Xun Li
Associate professor, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Member of International Society for Horticultural Science, and Member of the Working Committee of Soil Quality Standardization in Soil Science Society of China, and Editorial Board of Horticulture. He has long been engaged in research on environmental control agriculture and protected vegetable cultivation. Current research is focused on vegetable root morphology and exudate, the rhizosphere processes, and the uptake and utilization of mineral nutrients by root under different greenhouse environmental conditions.
Published more than 40 SCI papers with an H-index of 16, and 3 Chinese invention patents and one US patents have been authorized.

Dimitrios Savvas was born in Ioannina, Greece in 1961. He was awarded a Diploma in Agriculture from the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) in 1985 and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Bonn, Germany, in 1992. From 1996 to 2006 he was affiliated with the Technological Education Institution of Epirus as an associate professor (1996-1999) and professor (1999-2006). In 2006 he became an assistant professor at the Department of Crop Science of the Agricultural University of Athens. In 2011 he was promoted to the degree of associate professor and since October 2015 he is a full Professor in AUA. Since October 2016 he is the Director of the Laboratory of Vegetable Production and, since September 2019, he is the Dean of the Faculty of Plant Sciences. He specializes in soilless culture, plant nutrition, water management, and applied stress physiology with emphasis on salinity and greenhouse crops. He has published over 110 papers in refereed international scientific journals (with IF) and many other papers in congress proceedings (Acta Hort.) and as book chapters. He has an h-index of 28 in Scopus and 1980 hetero-citations of his publications (updated February 2022). According to the bibliographic classification of Baas J, Boyack K, Ioannidis JPA. (2021): Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators” (https://elsevier.digitalcommonsdata.com/datasets/btchxktzyw/3) conducted by Stanford University for Elsevier, Professor Savvas ranks within the top 2% of scientists worldwide in his scientific field. He has been involved in many EU research projects, either as coordinator or as a member of the research team. In the last 5 years, in addition to several national research projects, he has been the coordinator of the AUA team in the European research projects LEGUME FUTURES (FP7), EUROLEGUME (FP7), TOMRES (HORIZON2020), TRUE (HORIZON2020) and VEGADAPT (PRIMA) and core member of the research team in the H2020 Project RADIANT. Nazim Gruda, professor at the University of Bonn, Germany, is an internationally recognized and leading authority in horticulture. He is chairman of the Working Group on Vegetables and Potatoes for South-Eastern Europe and vice-chairman of Division Vegetables, Roots and Tubers of the International Society for Horticultural Science. His research is focused on the scientific understanding and application of innovative and sustainable horticultural food production systems. He obtained his Doctorate at the Technical University of Munich and his Habilitation at the Humboldt University of Berlin. In addition, he was an “Invited Research Scholar” at The Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, and “Courtesy Associate Professor” at the University of Florida, Gainesville, USA. Furthermore, he has been a consulter for the Food and Agriculture Organization, FAO, and an expert evaluator for the European Commission, Italian Ministry of Education, National Research Foundation of South Africa, Agency for Research, Technology and Innovation of Albania, and Federal Office for Agriculture and Food, Germany.
For his excellent research work, Dr Gruda has been awarded the “Dr Heinrich-Baur-Prize” 2003 by the Technical University of Munich, Germany and the “National Scientific Prize” 2018 by the Academy of Science of Albania. In addition, according to Stanford University, he ranks to top 2% of scientists worldwide and he is a full member of the Academy of Science of Albania, an Honorary Member of the Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences of Romania, a Correspondent Member of the worldwide oldest agricultural institution, “Accademia dei Georgofili” in Italy, and a “Distinguished Scientist” of the Academy of Science of China.
